Ahh, I'm terrible at journals. I seem to only remember to update them every 3 months or so. It's clearly cause my life is far too exciting to be written with mere words. Look out for the movie.

I have just over a month of Uni left!! Or two, if you include all the shows and shiz we're doing after. Scary business indeed. Good news for anyone left waiting for commissions though, as soon I'll be able to finish them all snappy-like. Ooh, and maybe do some personal art. I miss fanart! Sad, I know, but I'm a loser.

Good lord, how long has it been since I wrote a journal?? For good reason! Though I'm going to have to get into a habit of updating a blog frequently for my presentation document for Uni. Just ONE of a million things to do in the last 5 months I've left of University.

Basically, I spent all of December working (for cash, though I got the job through uni and it involved art. Check my tumblr for details: [link] and the start of Jan was a mad rush to finish a project. Now we've been given our FMP (Final Major Project). They couldn't have made it sound more scary unless they'd named it BAMF project. Anyhoo, in the last two days, we've had 5 meetings to discuss the new briefs and everything that comes with the 3rd year final run. Information overload. I got home today, tried to unzip my sneakers and then peeled the potatoes I was meant to bake. My brain is as mushed as those potatoes ended up/

In any case, it's ridiculously daunting, but hopefully stimulating and motivating. I still have two more commissions to finish (much love to my patient, wonderful commissioners!), so I'll be racing to do those before the going gets rough.

There's so much I want to do on dA! Contests to enter, meme's to participate in, art trades and more commissions, along with my hoard of unfinished art pieces pining for my attention. But it looks like I'm going to have to be tough on myself and let it be until I'm free of Uni. Soon, my pretties, soon...

News wise...well, I've been a busy beaver and finally got my ass in gear concerning work and shiz. Having a diary really does help. And planning ahead! I've only one more year of Uni and this one counts the most. An average of a 2nd isn't good enough, c'mooon. And then I've to apply for a PGCE in Secondary School Art so I can spend a year teaching little 'uns to art. While I strongly suspect there are plenty of younger students better than me, that's just something I'll have to learn to live with. XD Maybe they'd end up teaching me more than I'll teach them.

Oh, my plans to visit Japan this summer fell through. Booo. Not only cause of the disaster there, but money here has been scarce, and my getting a job was too little too late. AND now my entire summer is booked up with work, so I'll finally have money, but no time to spend it! S'all good, s'all good...Just have to put it off a little more. Good things to those that wait, right?

In a week I've got a weeks work experience at my old secondary school, followed by three weeks of working with secondary schoolers visiting the Uni. The latter is gonna kill me, as it involves kids actually travelling to the Uni and staying in halls for a few days. Then as soon as they leave, another group arrives. Us Ambassadors are staying in Halls with them as their 24/7 caretakers, so we get to take them to breakfast, supervise their activities, make sure they eat dinner, take them to evening funtimes like the cinema/bowling etc and stuffs. And of course if they need us in the night it's our job to get our sally asses out of bed to make sure they're fine. 3 weeks of this...Weekends off, of course but it's gonna be taxing.

Having said that, I'm pleased as punch to have gotten the job. The money is good, as they're paying us 24/7 for three weeks, and that money is going straight to my accomodation funds. After that ends, it's a month or two of full time Hotline Clearing for the Uni before the new term starts. Wooo...

I'm gonna be pooped.

A new journal entry!? Say it is not so!

I've been busy! Sorta. Not compared to some. *cough*Pimpypantscough* But having returned to Uni, they've lumped the work on us. It's only the first unit, and we've been on a project a week deadline. It's a bit of a slap in the face, considering they're usually so laid-back and lackadaisical. But it's all good. Gotta get my ass in gear. Unfortunately that means I've not had time to really sit down and get some dA art done. I've got loooads of half done sketches, inked things etc, all whining for attention, but again...there's only so much time in a day, and I love to sleep.

My bed will always get priority, she says at 1.30am. HMM.

I suppose I could bitch about how the new house I've moved into isn't working out. The peeps here are...well, guys. Guys that have been used to living together in this house in a certain way for the past year, so my intrusion isn't exactly welcomed. Especially when I go all clean-freak asskicker on the kitchen. After a week or so of trying to tidy up and actually make sure the place is hygienic, I gave up. Returned to just washing my own things, a cupboard for my stuff and all that jazz. Should be all good, right?

Wrong. Apparantly keeping myself organised and cleans pisses one particular individual off. So does the fact that I won't change the channel to football when he walks in the room. Like a spoiled teen throwing a fit. Ugh. But as annoying as it is, I could deal with it, given time. Yet that same guy is having a whole truckload of issues with absolutely everyone else in the house. A shame, because he can be lovely when in a good mood.

The house is falling apart. Looks like I'll be moving again soon. Hopefully to somewhere cleaner. *wishes upon a star*



Anyhoo, stress and busyness aside, it could all be worse. Que sera sera! Also, I'm having some issues with unfocused and fuzzy graphics on dA. It appears only to affect my pages, as anything viewed anywhere else on dA is perfectly fine. But icons, thumbnails etc are all...ever so slightly bigger than normal and fuzzy. It's terribly annoying, and I can't find a reason. Anyone else getting that?

Ha HA! I finally finished a submission! In any case, I don't have much to report, but I thought I'd make a journal thanking whomever sent me a print from my wishlist. It was an utter surprise, and a lovely one at that. But it didn't tell me who it was! So either they withheld details, or...deviantArt was feeling generous. Either way, it's puurdy.

I'm slowly cumulating sketches like a wondeful mold. Perhaps sometime I'll compile them all in one big file and post 'em. But that rather sounds like hard work... As for what else is in the works, erm...Well, needless to say plenty of Bleach, but there was also a mini TMNT comic that I wanted to get done at some stage. Le sigh. All in good time.

So. I went to the coast for a week with the family, to see the rest of the family. It's been a good few years since I've shown my face, so I felt it necessary. Plus, free holiday. Sorta. I'm a wee bit more brown for my troubles, at least. Plus, I got a free fancy sketchbook and pencils outta the deal, as I entered a pavement drawing competition on a whim and won. As my younger brother wanted to join in, I went along and ended up entering the adults section. All for the sake of charity, right?? Plus, when they're all done, it's pretty awesome to walk along this massive stretch of pavement and see all the art there.

Anyways, I gave 'em my pound, got given a bag of about 7 chalks and told to go find myself a box. They'd drawn a somewhat uneven grid pattern on the pavement, and we were expected to plonk ourselves down and draw for an hour or so. All the mats had been taken but it wasn't so bad. I chose a fairly small box and stretched myself out, figuring there was so many free boxes that no one would need the extra space beside me.

Pffft! 5 mins after I start, a woman asks if she can have the box next to me. 5 mins after that, a man asks for the box on the other side. Why?! There was a whole massive friggen pavement to the sides and above, and yet...Well. I figure they wanted to stick their drawings next to a less awesome one, to highlight their magnificence. Or they thought it was a nice idea to put a load of art together for effect. Either way, despite the fact I got squished and hellishly self conscious about my drawing ability next to them, it was fun. It's an interesting experience drawing with a massive crowd at your back muttering about your work.

And I won, apparantly. I honestly don't see why, considering I still believe their art to have been better, but perhaps it's because they were more than double my age. Eh. Mine still looks like a smudge on the ground to me.

Bro got a highly commended and still managed to sulk about me doing better than he did in his age range. Bless. Have a badly taken picture or two of a badly drawn picture.




In other news, I bought myself a new laptop, so that I have room for all my arts and programs *coughWoWcough*. Haven't got Photoshop on here yet as that's still back at the Uni house. I've also noticed a massive difference in saturation and hue from one laptop to the other, which is making pretty friggen paranoid that I've been colouring things all crazy-like. So I've got a load of things in the works that will have to wait. The art with deadlines I'll still do, as I'm sure I can fiddle with 'em till they're right, but with the others...well....it's just more satisfying doing it without worrying about what it looks like on everyone elses computers.

Oh. I named the journal because I do, in fact, have doodles from the last week or so to upload, but they need scanning, and I'm lazy. So another time, amigos!

Think it's about time I got rid of that journal, considering it was still filled with the April fools icons. There's only so much Gaga, Jacob and Edward I can take.

Mah news is thus: My tablet is broken! But fear not, a new one is one the way! More arts will be coming. Though, knowing me, as soon as it arrives I'll find another excuse not to do art. But it's hard! The weather's decided to turn summery and the sun is GORGeous. I've been spending my days outside reading and doodling. Also, it appears the sun makes me a wee bit over-happy. I practically skip around outside, smiling at the world.

On that note...I'm burnt. Baaad. Like a lobster. I kid you not, it canes. And red is so unbecoming on me! It hasn't been too bad till today, but I thought as I'd been doing the front too much I ought to catch up the back by throwing out a towel and laying on my front. The sun must have been hotter than I thought, because DAUYM. The backs of my thighs are killing me.

Honestly, I don't mind too much. I tan easily, so in a couple of days, that red is gonna be a yummy golden brown. Hooray for genes! And yes, I know it's not good to go out and bake yourself, but I don't do it on purpose! The sun sneeks up on me! I swear.

The other annoying thing about sunbathing on a towel is that bugs crawl up your shorts. Wiggling around for all to see isn't too ladylike either, so I had to run inside and squash that perverted little creep.

Aaand I can't be assed to do anymore updating. Snore.

Eeee! I'm still freaking out! directed me towards couchsurfing.org earlier and I'm all excited! There are people who are willing to let me crash on their couch in crazy countries?! What?! Amazing.

Seriously, with Uni, it's not like I get to travel much, despite wanting to do so badly. So during the summer breaks where I do jack, why not bloody travel? If I were rich, I might, but this couchsurfing site...That cuts down the price a whole lot! Plus I think it's great fun to stay with people. It makes the trip so much more personal.

That's all I really had to say...I'm just spazzing because it reeks of opportunity. Other than that, I'm working on a whole load of pics right now and it's tiring me out. Fun! But tiring. They're just...not right. So I keep going back and changing...starting anew...etc. I'm not getting far very fast. But I will, eventually! Better to have something to art on than not at all!

Now, I'm aware not many read this journal, but that rather works in my favour here. See, it's not long till 4k pageviews. Usually I'd not care enough to offer anything for capturing it...but...bored. So! I will do a pic for whomever catches it! Or closest to in either direction.

In other news, my lower legs are killing me. Every Friday I get up early to accompany my housemate to uni for her sports management course. Part of that unit is training a client in the Gym for 12 weeks, once a week. It started off easily enough, testing me, and probably a good thing too considering how terribly clumsy I am, and a newbie to Gyms in general. But since the lecturer dude started actively assessing, my housemate has clearly been panicking and thinking she's not working me hard enough. So...it got harder.

Turns out they were actually meant to select a Gym-savvy client so the guy can judge on harder work regimes. I wasn't told this till the other day, and we're about halfway through. Couple weeks ago, she stuck me on the treadmill for 50 mins. My heartbeat rose to 180 at one point before she noticed that she had me running a bloody marathon. Keep in mind I'd not done the treadmill before and I suck eggs at running. As you can imagine, the day after that was hell. I was an old lady.

This week wasn't so bad. I ached a bit the day after, then it was fine. So why today do I start getting that slow developing ache in my calves? It gets worse no matter how much I try to relax. I've had this kind of crampy ache before, and it's terrible. Takes ages to build up, and then it's agony. When I was younger I'd get myself through it thinking it was growing pains and I'd have awesomely long legs. Now I'm older, and I don't need them any longer thankyouverymuch!

Least all the exercise makes me feel healthy. I will have a toned stomach for summer!

Not much to say. I feel lousy for not having posted anything in a while...but when I get a few projects going, I tend to try and work on all of them at once, instead of devoting my time to one and moving on to the next after. Cause that would be *intelligent*.

I might just blame for an offhand comment that has me working on a li'l thing that is no longer so li'l. It's not even awesome! But I'm having fun.

And there's Sims 3...first time playing it, and I can't stop until I've risen one sim to fame and had them spawn multitudes of bebbiez. That's it. Every sim game I've played ends up the same. Although I'll admit that there's amusement to be found in having a sims waters break in the middle of autograph signing. Watch the fans run around in panicked circles while the sim walks herself calmly across town to hospital...and then get a letter from the theatre she was signing at telling her they're very disappointed with her efforts! The cheek.

Oh! And I've been majorly frustrated with how to draw the turtle dudes. I just can't get it right! I think I've settled on something for now, but it'll prolly change. It's just easier to draw this way. I'm pretty pleased. I suppose it's more 'manga' style or whatever, but I'm not very acquainted with that kinda art, sooo I'm not really sure either way.

Oh well! Que sera sera! I'm loving having so many fun projects to do nonetheless.

I've literally just finished watching Pans Labyrinth. Maaan! I was not expecting that! The film had me on tenterhooks all through! Horrified, intruiged, and trying to mask my pessimism with some unfounded optimism. Such a dark film! I was on the edge of my seat with the eyeball creature. That thing will give me nightmares.

And the ending! My God. I was all teary...was it happy? Was it sad? Was it in her head or not?! Argggh!

If it *was* in her head, then she has some serious issues.

Or the director does. I don't want to watch a dude sew up his own face!! Or do I? This film is confusing yet thoroughly gripping. I'm glad it didn't turn out to be another 'Damien' type movie. One was enough for me.

I liked it...I..think? Yes.

Onto other news. Just finished a history and critique unit, and now have some vague project about uniforms and lifedrawing. HM. Methinks lecturers ought to be better prepared and bring paper briefs to project launches. I've been knuckling down for a bit to get the work done, so haven't been able to do as much art as I'd like. There are meme's, doodles, practice and loooads of shit I want to do. Alas.

On the upside, I've started a new turtley pic. It's pretty simple, but I'm trying to renew the old digital painting skills. So far, it's a fail, but I'm trying! I can picture it in my head just so...so if it's not perfect, it will not do. But it should be pretty. Or horrific. Which is my subject matter. As much as I love horror, I realised I don't often draw it. So practice it is.
